Anyone can write. Through the process of putting thoughts on paper, ideas evolve and become clear, opinions strengthen and skills increase. It is while practicing the craft of writing that we improve and grow as storytellers and as informants. Education gives us the formal process of writing, but, in order to write well, it should be done often. Topics should have personal meaning in order to involve us completely. These essays provided in my portfolio began as an assignment, but quickly grew into pieces of which I am quite proud. They started out as an idea which expanded through the drafts, the revisions and the edits and not only have relevance to my own life, but hopefully offer information to others that has value. Writing, in all its forms, is a way to expression beyond oneself and excellence results from continuous attempts though the many venues of the written word.
